Hydrogen Gas Drier (For Gas Mixture In Turbo Generators)


Technical Requirement

The refrigeration gas drier consist of two shell and tube type heat exchangers named as Pre-cooler and Evaporator. The moist hydrogen gas is first passed through the gas to gas Heat Exchanger i.e. pre-cooler in which temperature of H2 gas reduces around 25° C to 30° C.

After the pre-cooling, the H2 gas passes through evaporator in which H2 gas is cooled further so as to achieve dew point 3° C – 5° C. Due to low temperature in the evaporator the moisture in the H2 condenses and converts to water form. The water is collected in the condensate collector and drained at regular intervals. The dry gas from the evaporator again passes though pre-cooler where the temperature of dry H2 is raised to about 25° C – 40 °C before entering the generator.


Testing & Guarantee

As per TG 60327 Rev 14

In house process tests

1. Hydraulic test of pre-cooler and evaporator (shell & tube type) shall be carried out at 15 kg/cm² for 30 mins – No Leakage Test

2. Pneumatic test of evaporator unit and pre-cooler unit shall be carried out separately, at 10 kg/cm² for 8 Hrs – No Leakage Test

3. Hydraulic test for complete H2 circuit at 10 kg/cm² for 30 mins – No Leakage Test

4. Pneumatic test for complete H2 circuit at 10 kg/cm² for 8 Hrs – No Leakage Test

5. Pneumatic test for refrigerant circuit at 15 kg/cm² for 8 Hrs – No Leakage Test

6. 100% DPT of fillet welds for any welding in equipment.

7. High voltage test at 2 KV RMS for 1 minute

8. Insulation Resistance Test.

9. Test Certificate for explosion proofness of Fan Motor.

10. Functional Verification & Certification Tests.

11. Guaranteed for satisfactory operation for 18 months from the date of commissioning.

1. Detailed operation and maintenance manual for operation at site.

2. One set of spares for site maintenance shall be provided.
